Glances and Gestures

“They say the eye is the window to the soul and I’m looking in my mirror and, oh, behold, I just can’t seem to find my soul...” (Big Blood, “In My Head”).
This series of paintings matches eyes with hands, the expressions of eyes with the expressions of hands. Do they match, though?

​"Eyes" drawings

The title of this series of drawings, “Eyes,” is in quotes to indicated that I am not depicting eyes.  Rather, hints of representation are introduced into the works as line and color areas suggest eyes. Though suggested, the looseness of definition prevents a clear interpretation of exact anatomy in a play on the human tendency to construct images from visual clues, incidental or intentional.
