Small Koi Ponds Series
Statement for Koi Series: I’ve made a Koi Pond painting from time to time, but the works here constitute the first presentation of a true Koi Pond series. The inspiration to make a series arose from a reminder of the way in which, so to speak, “koi grow to fit their environment,” from a reflection of this idea in relation to my own art making: how the size of the work I produce is affected by the space in which I have to produce and then store it in the short or long term; how considerations of where it will show influence subject; how both size and subject become considerations of saleability.
